The Alliance for Gambling Reform wants governments to implement rules protecting young people and the public. Thus, the alliance asks the Australian government to prevent kids from accessing gambling ads and platforms.
According to sportsbook pay per head reviews and news sites, the Alliance for Gambling Reform’s study emerged during the parliamentary review of the Australian online gambling industry. Also, the committee will recommend the topic before the month ends.
Carol Bennett, CEO of the Alliance for Gambling Reform, said the study showed why online gambling is growing fast in Australia. According to iGaming news reports, Australians lost more than $4.62 billion annually.
Australian Online Gambling Regulations Fall Behind to Counterparts
According to the research, Australia’s online gambling regime lags well below that of many fundamental European nations. These countries include the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, and Spain.
Spain and the Netherlands have gone further by imposing more limitations on commercials. At the same time, the UK has suggested restricting logos on sports jerseys and in-stadium advertisements with the White Paper.
Bennett pointed out that governments haven’t invested in independent harm reduction bodies out of fear that their “light touch gambling policy and regulation” will be challenged because of the rapid evolution of online gambling with technology, leaving researchers, policymakers, regulators, and governments helpless to stop the exponential growth of gambling harm.
Bennett also cited more restrictive gambling regimes in Asia, where some nations have outright outlawed internet gambling while others permit it exclusively in casinos.
The investigation concluded that internet gambling is far riskier than gambling in casinos. According to bookie pay per head solutions experts, 34 percent of online gamblers experiencing gambling damage compared to 15 percent of poker machine gamblers.
