Fanatics wants to grow its footprint in the US. Thus, it acquired licensees in various regulated markets in the country. Its latest action is the launch of its Maryland sportsbook.
According to pay per head bookie reports, the company is beta-testing the sportsbook in Maryland. Also, it recently launched a pilot program in Massachusetts.
Fanatics offers mobile sports wagering in Maryland. It is part of the company’s goal of becoming a bookie in at least fifteen states before the start of the NFL season.
Fanatics’ Maryland Sportsbook
The firm has already established itself with its mobile sportsbook in Tennessee and Ohio and its initial launches in Massachusetts and Maryland. In addition, the firm’s recent acquisition of PointsBet’s assets for $150 million undoubtedly increased its visibility and bolstered its technological standing.
As impressive as FanDuel and DraftKings have been, Fanatics still has a way to go before it can compete with BetMGM regarding influence and customer base. Online casino income is growing in importance as the company’s primary competitors expand into new markets.
But in the meanwhile, things have not been perfect. In Ohio, for example, authorities slammed a promotion that attempted to cross-promote the Fanatics apparel store with sports betting bonuses because they believed it was irresponsible and may appeal to minors. Fanatics is the tenth business to receive a license to operate in the state.
Despite competition from Betfred, SuperBook, Barstool Sportsbook, Caesars, and others, the firm is confident its goods will find a place in the market. Although the future of PointsBet has yet to be determined, the company is now one of the licenses in the state, and its activities may soon be amalgamated with those of Fanatics.
The partnership between Fanatics and FedEx Field, home of the Washington Commanders, gives the bookmaker a physical presence in the state and paves the way to sell mobile sports betting goods.
