According to a recent study, more money is needed to ensure that hundreds of British Olympic and Paralympic competitors can afford to participate in the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

Some 64 percent of the 189 athletes polled by the British Elite Athlete Association (BEAA) threatened to retire from athletics if their salaries weren't increased.

Will the government give in and provide more funds to athletes?

Its always an issue, especially with less popular sports. I hope that they give these athletes better pay and perks, as they are representing their country. Especially since the UK will be visiting the US- I'm sure they would want to impress.

And the government gave in. During the financing cycle for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the British government will boost funding for Olympic and Paralympic competitors by 10%. Chancellor Rachel Reeves has offered a sum of £344 million.

The government has pledged an additional £9 million each year to help hundreds of exceptional athletes from throughout the nation prepare for the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Los Angeles.
